The Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office has immediate openings for Special Assistant District Attorney positions within our judicial circuit (Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Meriwether, Troup). Pay would be hourly at a negotiated rate for a maximum of 29 hours per week but no minimum hours required. Applicants cannot have any active criminal cases with our office and would preferably be attorneys who reside in or nearby the circuit. Duties may include reviewing drug or property crime cases, drafting charging instruments, writing appeals, responding to motions and arguing motions, taking guilty pleas, and other non-complex assignments. This would allow full time ADA’s to focus on the most serious and complex cases.

The District Attorney is interested in applicants with no experience with criminal law or who have not maintained an active practice in recent years. Our office will provide the training and support necessary to ensure the applicant can successfully perform the job responsibilities that best fit the applicant’s skills and experience. Applicants must be in good standing with the State bar and will be subject to standard hiring procedures such as a background check, drug test, and fingerprinting.
