Crimes Against Women and Children

Victims of domestic violence and child abuse are among the most vulnerable victims of crime. The relationship between the abuser and the victim often presents a complex and difficult dynamic, where such victims may be reluctant to speak out against their abuser, for reasons including fear of retribution, financial dependence on their abuser, belief in false apologies, or due to other forms of manipulation and dependence.

As part of our pursuit of justice in these cases, our office strives to provide these victims with the tremendous amount of support needed to find the courage and strength required to continue to speak the truth and stand up against the abuse. This support includes the information and services provided through our victim advocate program and through our prosecutorial experience with these types of cases. We are dedicated to being sensitive and supportive throughout the difficult process a criminal prosecution in these types of cases can present, as we seek to make survivors out of victims.
