Accountability Courts
Drug Court
Drug Court is State-certified Accountability Court program providing evidence-based treatment to appropriate offenders whose criminal behavior is the result of a diagnosable substance use disorder. It provides an alternative to prison for eligible defendants, and seeks to reduce recidivism by providing participants the tools by which to make healthier decisions over the long term. Drug Court is an intensive outpatient program that emphasizes treatment, supervision, and employment and lasts a minimum of 18 months. The program is overseen by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals led by Judge Dusty Hightower in Carroll County Superior Court.

Mental Health Court
Mental Health Court is State-certified Accountability Court program providing evidence-based treatment to appropriate offenders whose criminal behavior is the result of a severe and persistent mental illness. It provides an alternative to prison for eligible defendants, and seeks to reduce recidivism by providing participants the tools by which to make healthier decisions over the long term. Mental Health Court is an intensive outpatient program that emphasizes treatment, supervision, and employment and lasts a minimum of 18 months. The program is overseen by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals led by Judge Erica Tisinger in Carroll County Superior Court.

Veteran’s Court
Veterans Court is State-certified Accountability Court program providing evidence-based treatment to appropriate offenders who have served this country in any branch of the armed forces. These offenders often struggle with substance use issues and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder related to their military service. The program works with the VA to provide an alternative to prison for eligible defendants, and seeks to reduce recidivism by providing participants the tools by which to make healthier decisions over the long term. Veterans Court is an intensive outpatient program that emphasizes treatment, supervision, and employment and lasts a minimum of 12 months. The program is overseen by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals led by Judge John Simpson in Carroll County Superior Court.
